Proven to Work
Talpirid Mole Killer is a worm-shaped mole bait scientifically proven to kill moles in lawns and gardens. Moles usually die in their tunnels. Moles can consume a lethal dose in a single feeding and die in as little as two days. Developed and tested on live, captured moles, Talpirid Mole Killer works where grain baits, repellents and a myriad of home remedies have failed. This revolutionary mole bait mimics the mole's natural food - the earthworm. Plus it contains special enhancers that attract moles.

Selection of Treatment AreaThe presence of moles may be indicated by a network of subsurface runways in the turf or by a series of conical mounds of earth pushed up from deep burrows. Subsurface runways are indicated by raised ridges of vegetation and soil caused by moles foraging for food just below the soil surface. These runways are especially noticeable when the grass above them turns yellow. Conical mounds may be indicative of the location of deeper main underground runways. |
Application DirectionsRemove and place worm shaped bait according to included instructions following the advised safety precautions. Use your finger, small wooden dowel or a narrow rod to puncture a hole in the top of subsurface runways. Be careful not to crush runways. Mark opened runways and revisit them 48 to 72 hours later. Runways that have had holes resealed within 72 hours should be baited. Make a hole in the top of the runway with a rod slightly larger than the diameter of the bait. Drop one worm into the runway, using the rod to push any exposed bait completely into the runway. Carefully reseal the runway with a small amount of dirt to exclude light. Repeat bait application every 5 to 10 feet of each active subsurface runway. (Complete instructions included with product). |
Determining Baiting ResultsTalpirid has been specially designed to mimic the natural food sources of the mole. To achieve maximum effect, Talpirid should only be placed in areas used habitually by moles for feeding. Check for the effects of treatment 5 to 7 days after bait applicaiton using the same procedure for determining tunnel location. Return 48 to 72 hours later and retreat all active tunnel systems. Moles may consume a lethal dose in a single feeding, but it may take 2 or more days from the time of bait consumption for moles to die. |
Product Description
Talparid so closely mimics the mole's natural food that mole's respond to the bait in the same way as an earthworm, thus gaining its reputation as "the bottom line in mole control. "If Talpirid doesn't seem to work, consider: 1. Are you using gloves when applying the bait? Not using gloves may contaminate the bait with a human scent. 2. Are you applying product before or after a heavy rain? Rain and humidity can break down the bait faster than normal conditions. 3. Is a chemical insecticide or fertilizer being applied to the lawn? Chemicals that are applied before or after (within a few days) of applying Talpirid can affect the bait by contamination. Hence, the chemical gets on the bait by seeping through the tunnels. 4. Are you following the three-step process on the package? 5. Are you baiting properly once you find the main active run? If you bait without ever doing a test to find the active tunnel(s), than the bait may never be encountered and eaten by moles. You can test for an active tunnel by following the steps outlined on the package instructions.

I think many of the people that say this does not work have not bother to find an active mole run first. That is key, as many mole tunnels are just exploratory runs that are not used that often. Over several days of wet or humid weather these worms break down, so if you put them in an inactive run you are wasting time and money as by the time the mole may come through the bait has broken down. Bye the way I use a pair of needle nose pliers to handle the mole baits, that way there is no human scent on them, nor the scent of latex.
After searching Amazon I found this product, and was skeptical as I had used a similar looking product before to no avail. This product certainly looks like an earthworm as far as size and shape, and with the positive reviews I was willing to give it a try. Received the product and applied it as instructed in the tunnels. Keep the faux worms buried and away from digging cats and dogs, easy to do if you poke a hole in the tunnel/run and push the product in deep with a wooden dowel. Three days later there was very little new tunnel and mound activity, one week later there was almost no new activity and two weeks later it looks like the moles are history as there has been no new activity whatsoever. I can't say for certain the moles are dead as none were found on the surface, but if there are no new mounds or signs of tunneling, the moles are either too deep to see activity or they are dead. My guess is the latter, as it appears the moles are dead.
Is it possible that Talpirid does not work and each of the moles decided to pack up and leave together or that they all died of some instantaneous mole disease at coincidentally the same time as the application of the bait? I guess it is possible, but I know what killed them. It was the Talpirid - it works and works quickly!
UPDATE (11/1/15): So the moles would come and go and I would continue to use the Talpirid. However (as was said above), it is really hard to tell if the baits work or not with all of it happening underground, or if there are just more moles coming. That said, I added two versions of the old school spring loaded traps that you set from above ground, on top of the tunnel. If you set them right they work, and maybe before I just didn't set them right. Now I use gloves and keep them in place in the areas where the tunnels are most prevalent after the telltale dirt mounds appear. Took another three moles out in a month with the traps and probably more below ground with the Talpirid. Good luck, YMMV.
